Podcast Ads

Scaled my design leadership to a new space, positioning design as a key player in driving the future vision of podcast ads.

In 2020 we launched Streaming Ad Insertion, enabling and an in-app affordance for direct engagement with ads served in podcast episodes called Podcast In-App Offers.

Achievements & Impact

  • Aggressively focused and prioritized work to maintain traction on near-term goals while laying the groundwork for a longer-term vision work as we planned for 2020.

  • Established relationships with stakeholders and other teams working across the company podcast bet in order to socialize our story and goals, get our design team integrated into relevant rituals, and to collaborate on qualitative testing.

  • Worked with Product to define an initial UX strategy rooted in the “do no harm” principle – let’s first build the tech and experiment thoughtfully without disrupting the fundamentals of the podcast experience.

  • Collaborated with the Core Experience team to create the Podcast In-App Offers format, our first foray with enabling direct engagement with Podcast ads, no longer requiring listeners to remember a coupon code or vanity URL.
